While other colleges tear down residence halls built in the 1970s and earlier to replace them with newer designs, Scripps builds its halls to last. Perhaps the most important element of sustainable construction at Scripps is buildings that are designed to withstand the tests of time. ![]() NEW Hall will also be entirely ADA accessible. It is designed to LEED gold standards and will feature low-flow water fixtures, highefficiency lighting, Energy Star appliances, and drip irrigation, among other environmentally friendly assets. building features NEW Hall will embrace a new era of architecture. Students choosing to live on their own in singles will have more opportunity to do so. Space provided by NEW Hall will enable the flexibility to reconfigure some existing residence hall rooms: 10 existing triple rooms will become doubles eight doubles will be reconfigured as singles bunk beds will be eliminated and the number of suites will increase. The plan s residential area provides a total of about 110 beds in a combination of singles, doubles, and a one-bedroom director s apartment.
